Mustard had the pleasure of speaking with Salt Lake’s (Not Nashville’s) Angie Petty. Together we discussed their time with the School of Rock Program, their time at Snow College, working with artists such as Jon Batiste, their debut album “Timing”, and their latest single “Friends.”
"Meet Angie Petty, a master of music versatility. Petty has a lush voice with a jazz-reminiscent quality, one that manages to adapt to all the many genres she’s interested in. After years of learning about the craft of music and performance art, she released her debut album, Timing, last May."
"Angie Petty’s debut album, Timing, is aptly titled for a few reasons. Petty released a string of singles over the past two years or so, but now the time has come to release her first body of work. Perhaps, as a testament to the years of work she’s put into her musical journey, or a nod to finally finding the right timing to really launch her music career. Timing is ultimately a thoughtful collection of songs, the set of seven tracks cohesive yet each one distinct in its own right."
"Singer-songwriter Angie Petty releases her debut album, Timing, which includes the soulful R&B song, In The Rain. Its sound is calm, perfect for when you’re driving or walking outside. The addition of crisp vocals creates music that’s brilliant."
"Her mother is a singer. Her father started a music-workout company. Her uncle plays the bass. Her brothers play the guitar and the drums. And her aunt is also a singer. She says it best herself, “It kinda just runs in my family.” Passion for music didn’t skip Angie Petty, as she has spent her entire life devoted to its craft. She spent the first years of her life singing, however she soon became too unconfident in her abilities and gravitated towards competitive dancing."
"Angie Petty is getting you all in your feels with new single, ‘Nowadays’. The track is a lofi dream world with lush vocals and smooth jazz elements. The soul in her vocals hit your ears and feels smooth like butter. She tells such a relatable story but slaps a irrestible tone on it and makes this track which I feel is a smash across the board. It’s just so beautiful even though it can be a little sad. Who can resisit that voice?"
"US-based Angie Petty combines neo-soul and jazz sensibilities on new single ‘Nowadays’ and its giving us some serious tingles. Talking about the single, Angie explains, “I wanted to write a song about that debilitating feeling you get when you know a relationship is reaching its expiration date. It could be because they said “we need to talk,” or it could be the lack of talking in general."
